as i mentioned before, we wil be having our (hopefully) annual holiday party on Saturday December 13th starting around seven pm. the plans are as follows.......beverages, food, beverages, music, beverages, local art, beverages, discounts, beverages, and of course really dope people like myself. it's going to be a really fun time, so please show up to support your local businesses.

this is only day six. geeeez, i wish i really was jewish for all the selfish reasons of course. eating s-tons of food, and receiving presents are my main hobbies. i'm not even kidding.

okok. so i know this isn't exactly a gift from Adorn, but have you ever had the brownies from Gold Rush? It's the coffee shop right down the block from us. it's on the corner of MLK and Russell. i almost passed out due to sheer pleasure the first time i took a bite of it's dense and sugary deliciousness. if santa....i mean moses made me brownies like these for Hanukkah, i would be a very happy girl.

yana fanny packs!

 

The fanny pack (US), belt pack (US), hip pack (UK), or bum bag (UK,Oceania) is a small fabric pouch secured with a zipper and worn at the waist by a strap around the hips.

The name 'fanny pack' is derived from the fact that they were traditionally worn facing the rear above the buttocks, for which fanny is a slang term in North America. Despite the name, many do not wear fanny packs on their rear because they are easier to pick pocket and harder to access. In the United Kingdom and Anglophone Oceania, the term 'bum bag' or 'belt bag' is used for this product (as fanny is slang for the vagina or, more correctly, the vulva in those territories).

Today, fanny packs are often worn by hikers and bicycle riders. Fanny packs are used by travelers and were more popular during the early and mid 1990s. They can be slung either forward, to the side, or to the rear of the wearer. One of the primary advantages of fanny packs is that they are hands-free. Fanny packs reached the peak of their popularity in the late 1980s and early- to mid-1990s. The handiness and ease of opening of fanny packs has also resulted in them being used as holsters for storing loaded handguns. Many manufacturers make fanny packs that are designed for concealed carry.

For some, their resurrection is a form of ironic retro fashion. In this way, the fanny pack has made something of a comeback among youth in recent years, this time termed a pouch. Many top designers such as TheNorth Face, Gucci, Prada, Coach, Marc Jacobs, The Good Witch Closet, and Louis Vuitton have taken the opportunity to resurrect and redesign the fanny pack.

 

so we think fanny packs are back in a major way. there is almost no way you could make fun of these bags we just got in from Yana. they are made of eco friendly fabrics; all the hardware is 14k gold plated. Yana's bags we recently featured in Lucky magazine. most importantly, Yana believes in fair pay and good working conditions, so all her bags are made NYC.

ok ok. you are probably going to think we are crazy. for the holiday season we have set up an additional store in washington square. it's right next to nordstrom and the sweet factory (two of our biggest weaknesses). we will have most of our jewelry and handbags out there, and most of our clothing will continue to stay at the store on russell street. holler if you have any questions.Â

welcome foreign family!

today we recieved our first shipment of foreign family. we are sooo excited to add them to our growing list of amazing brands. if you haven't heard of them yet, here is a little info....

founded in los angeles in the hot summer of 2003, when two friends, chad and mr44, decided to start their own clothing brand. they both wanted to build a brand that was known for originality and intricate hand-drawn designs. hard work and the drive to create good clothing has guided them from the start, from deciding to utilize only original hand drawn artwork, to building an image, fostering their own dedicated following, building an international customer base, freelancing for and collaborating with other brands, and delving into garment production (ie "cut & sew"). foreign family are proud of recent achievements such as being invited to bread + butter in barcelona, launching a worldwide art tour, and the opening of their official headquarters - a design studio in k-town, los angeles.

we just picked up some new track jackets from erhart. they are a local streetwear company that combines cotton with raw woven silk to create a unique look. these jackets would look great with the poncho shoes from vans (take that ethan).

we just got our holiday shipment of obey. the limited series tees are by california artist Mike Kershnar. Mike is a skateboarder and designs posters for bands like the beastie boys, and Morrissey. Mike creates representations of North American wildlife in hopes to connect spiritual relationship between man and the creatures he shares the earth with. Mike co-founded "Elemental Awareness", an organization that promotes self-esteem though the avenues of skateboarding, the wilderness, and art. check out our new tees. love them.
